Aside from this, chewing becomes a hindrance. Food particles can get trapped with the brackets and this is one of the reasons why brushing should be done religiously. If you do not do this, chances are, you will develop tartar and plaque, which is hard to remove. Another reason why you need to maintain the cleanliness of the teeth is due to the fact that your diet has an impact on the yellowing of the teeth. You need to choose the right choice of food. Avoid sticky food for the chances of having lodged food particles become high and this would result to cavities if left untreated. This goes true also for hard food. This food can bend and warp the braces and hamper on the development of your teeth.

If you have the habit to put things in your mouth, let’s say, you like to out pens in your mouth, try to avoid this. Food with high acidic content should also be avoided as it would weaken your teeth’s enamel.

What you need to do is to brush and floss regularly to remove food particle in your teeth.

Choosing the Braces Colors

Choosing the Braces Colors

In the past, braces are thick and huge. Kids who wear them can be bullied and called metal mouth. But that remains in the past now.

Braces now are fashion statements. There are many colors a kid or teenager can choose from. Many people has one concern when they want to sign up  for dental brace treatment and that is, if the braces are colored, what colors would make their teeth whiter.

Having the braces in kids’ favorite color lessens the stress a kid gets when he has braces on. In fact, it would make kid more excited to visit the orthodontic to have the braces tweaked or attached.

There are many colors a  kid can choose from. A kid must remember that the braces wil remain there of a year or more, so the right color should be chosen.

If a kid does not know which color he should choose, ask the orthodontic for the color wheel to guide him.

When choosing for braces, the color of the teeth should be considered. Each person has different shades of teeth. This is partially due to the diet one has.

The rule of the thumb is, the darker the shade of the braces, the paler teeth would look whiter. As  a matter of fact, many people chose to have black braces. There are two reasons why this is perhaps the most popular choice for brace color- aside from the fact that it is the best contrast for teeth, black braces also make the teeth look bigger.

If black is too much, dark blue or maroon can be a better choice.

Invisible or silver braces would look good on people with yellowish teeth to balance the color of the teeth.

Yellow braces must be avoided at all times. Yellow would only make yellowish teeth look yellower.

Blue braces would also look good on almost every one.

Different Kinds of Bites

Different Kinds of Bites

It is important that you need to be educated in the types of bites when you want o have braces and other types of orthodontics attached to your mouth. In the orthodontics’ point of view, a bite is the way the teeth are fitted together. On the other hand, malocclusion is defined as the misalignment of teeth. When we talk about malocclusions, we have three types in terms of the horizontal line.

Class 1

This is a dental condition where the both jaws are aligned, however there are crooked, spaced out teeth and there are teeth that grow below the gum line or above other teeth.

Class 2

This is also called overjet. This means that the upper jaw is more moved forward than the lower jaw. There may be an overbite. This can be remedied by orthodontics and in some severe cases, jaw surgery is needed where the upper jaw is moved backward.

Class 3

This is called underbite or negative overjet, this is the opposite of Class II. The lower jaw is moved forward. Same with Class II, slight cases can be remedied by orthodontics and severe ones by jaw surgery.

The bite types that are in relation to the vertical lines, there are also three.

Crossbite

Crossbites occur when the bottom teeth do not meet correctly with the top teeth. It is called unilateral posterior crossbite when the teeth fall inside the mouth. It is called bilateral crossbite when the teeth do not meet with the top on the sides.

Open Bite

Those with  open bites only have a few teeth meeting one another. When they chew, you can actually see the insides of their mouth even if they would close the mouth with their teeth.

Deep Bite

Deep Bites occur when the upper teeth overlap the lower teeth. When a person with a deep bite chews there is little visibility of the lower teeth.
